Welcome to the world’s thinnest smartphone, the Motorola RAZR is only 7.1mm in thickness. It has a small 11.1mm thick bump found at the top of the phone which houses its camera lens.

The RAZR is powered by dual 1.2 GHz processor cores, it has a soft Kevlar back, and an incredible 4.3 inch, Super AMOLED screen with Advanced PenTile technology with an 8 megapixel camera that can record 1080 HD videos and a 1.3 camera on the front. It also uses 1GB of RAM, runs Android Gingerbread 2.3.5, plenty of multimedia features, has the highest quality security features, and very excitingly a more than decent battery life. The RAZR will be one of the latest Gingerbread releases that will be upgradeable to Ice Cream Sandwich soon.

The thin, lightweight design is durable, water repellent and scratch resistant with a stainless steel core. It is 5.14 inches long and 2.71 inches wide by 0.28 inches thick and weighs only 4.5 ounces, it has squared edges and the a downside to this phone seems to be that it can be quite large to handle for some people.

Motorola has constructed the chassis out of diamond-cut aluminium and the thin glass has bezel edging for a perfect fit. The surprisingly soft Kevlar backing brings us to another of the phone’s downsides which is that the battery cannot be removed.

The 4.3 inch Super AMOLED advanced screen is incredible to watch with vibrant, sharp colours. The screen’s response time is fast and feels seamless. It has five customizable home screens with handy shortcuts to the main menu, phone dialler, message inbox and camera app. For ease the apps can be organised into groups and the main menu is easily navigated by swiping from side to side.

The RAZR’s features include: WiFi, mobile hot spot capability, it can act as a modem for up to eight WiFi enabled devices, GPS, Bluetooth 4.0 and much more.

Motocast enables the user to access remote files on your PC without having to sync or upload files. The camera has almost zero shutter lag, enabling images to be processed a split second after being taken. The video produces smooth results. Call quality is good. Although increased battery life is as a USP the RAZR’s apps seem to drain battery life quite quickly. The smartphone does have a new app called “Smart Actions”, which will enable the user to set rules for the phone, to set reminders to charge the phone and if the user forgets to plug the phone in, a night action called the, “Night-time Battery Saver” can be pulled into action, which enables the battery to last longer the following day.

On the whole this is a very impressive smartphone, thin, lightweight and yet durable and built to last with some great features and the longest battery life presently available on the market.

It has been estimated that over 42 million Android phone contracts were sold this Christmas, with a substantial amount of these likely to have been Christmas presents. The Guardian used figures released by Google showing the total number of unique devices accessing Android Market during the month of December, which suggests that the total number of Android smartphones in use could be in the region of 280 million.

But using the number of activated Android devices announced by Google at the start of November 2011 (200 million) and adding to that the 700,000 daily activations reported by Google towards the end of December, market analysts Enders Analysis only came to a figure of 230 million. What this calculation does not take into consideration is that the number of daily activations probably increased dramatically in the run up to Christmas, peaking on Christmas day.

If these figures are correct it means that the number of Android users increased by 17% during December. The information used by the Guardian was based on reports about the spread of different Android versions across the market, and this revealed one interesting piece of information. As the only device to currently run Android Ice Cream Sandwich, the figures show that about 1.7 million Galaxy Nexus phones were sold during the final month of 2011.

The difference between the results of the Guardian and those of Enders Analysis, a difference of around 50 million, shows that this is not an exact science. On the other hand, it does show that Android continues to grow at a rapid pace despite stiff competition from the iPhone/iPad and, increasingly, Windows Phone devices like the Nokia Lumia.

The increased number of Android activations taking place prior to Christmas has also been felt in other places too, with the social network Google Plus seeing a significant increase in membership. Many websites have noticed more people Google Plussing their websites and content within the last couple of weeks.

The number of estimated sales for the Galaxy Nexus come as a bit of a surprise for a phone that has largely been overshadowed by the iPhone 4S. Many expected the Apple phone to be a primary stocking filler in 2011, and even Apple smugly anticipated that this would push iPhone sales over 30 million.

Although the 1.7 million Galaxy Nexus activations are not on the same level as the 30 million iPhone sales, it does show that the phone is still performing well despite questions regarding its signal quality and Face Unlock feature. This latter feature of Ice Cream Sandwich will likely become a more common sight on smartphones in 2012, as it has just emerged that Apple had filed for a facial recognition patent last summer. Not yet available for Apple lovers, this feature may make an appearance on the iPhone 5 and iPad 3.

The high end smart phones that are mostly in flip or clam shell phone forms and touch screen candy bar form phones have become a long history. In China, things are different and Samsung has introduced a wonderful new Android flip phone which comes with dual sim slots ,dual-core processor and dual AMOLED screens. The device in question is Samsung’s W999 which is expected to go on sale in China in early 2012.

This new phone has dual-screen, dual-core, which is squeezed into a clamshell. It has a two 3.5-inch OLED screens. It has a 800×480 resolution which means real-estate is not an issue at all. The device is powered by a dual-core 1.2GHz chip. It helps in making sure that the performance is of high quality. It’s running Android Gingerbread. It also has a traditional navigational keys and keypad which is serving to bring in mind of yesteryear that complements the touch screen.

Samsung releases a variety of devices that helps people find the right kind of technology that fits a person’s desire best. The company has come up with the W999 dual-screen clamshell dual-core Android phone. It costs one something around US $1,570(10,000 yuan in its launch country-China) that clearly aims at rich businessmen with massive fingers. It has a 1.2GHz processor and also a dual-core along with Gingerbread,as mentioned earlier. The specifications list of the brand new device also comprises of WiFi ,Bluetooth 3.0, and WAPI (China’s own WiFi standard).

Along with the above features this new mobile phone is packed with a 5-megapixel photo snapper. It helps in delivering video recording capabilities also. This is due to the fact that it is paired with the hi-fi powerful application processor.

This brand new handset is powered by Google’s Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating system. On top of it, this phone also sports the Touch Wiz interface.

For better anti-smear and better grip , the new hand set is said to come with the same Hyper Skin back cover which is also sported by Galaxy Nexus. Along with all these wonderful features the new mobile phone also sports a 1.2GHz application processor , a dual-core Qualcomm MSM8660, which results in increased performance capabilities that are being delivered to users. Till date, no specific price tag has been attached to the new phone and also no release date for this new mobile phone has been unveiled.

However, rumors are doing the rounds that it would be completely set to arrive on international shops and showrooms sometime in 2012. There are speculations of the price tag that this new mobile phone may be priced somewhere near $1,400 .One thing is very clear about the new device that due to it’s new design as well as due to the powerful hardware that Samsung packed it with this mobile set seems to be standing up in the crowd.

It would not be quite surprising if Samsung announces a large amount of sales of this new handset as the Chinese market is already taking the number one position in sales from US.

LG has launched a new laptop in the market naming it XNote Z330. It is very smart looking and super thin. It looks a bit similar to the Apple MacBook Air and the best part is that both come with a similar premium price tag. Like all other Ultrabooks, the XNote Z330 is 13.3 inch long and it features a second generation Intel Core processor and a solid state drive.

Only 2 models are available in the market: the Z330-GE55K and Z330-GE30K. The Z330-GE55K offers a Core i7 processor with storage of 256 GB and Z330-GE30K offers Core i5 processor with storage of 120 GB SSD. This LG has highlighted some of its features which have many people’s attention. Firstly, a boot up time under 10 seconds due to “Rapid Start Technology”.

Secondly, it has a narrow bezel for maximum display size of 12 inches. Lastly, the name of the Ultrabook game is thin and light and Z330 doesn’t disappoint there with a thickness of just 14.7mm and weight of 1.82 kg which makes the Z330 the thinnest Ultrabook till date.

The XNote Z330 was launched in Korea and in Korean currency it amounted higher that what Apple is asking for MacBook Air. According to Engadget the Core i5 model amounted $1500 and the Core i7 amounted to $2300. The Ultrabook has been criticized for it $1000 pricing strategy.

Like the other Ultrabooks such as Asus Zenbook UX31E does not even come close to its price. Unless the LG lowers the price of the Z330 when it arrives in US then it would not likely to be able to withstand the Ultrabook competition which is heating up every day. Like all other Ultrabooks, the LG XNote Z330 will aim to impress you with its size and weight. It amazes you how a laptop can be so thin and slim and stylish at the same place. The Z330 measures just 315 x 215 x 14.7 mm and weighs rather feather like 1.2 kg making it the thinnest among all other Ultrabooks.

The battery life has been doing well by providing a service of 6 hours. The LG XNote Z330 is paired with a 4 GB of RAM and a choice between 120 GB SATA 6 Gbps SSD and 256 GB SATA 3 Gbps SSD. The LG’s Z330 differentiates itself from the crowd with a narrow 8 mm bezel that allows it to fit into a chassis that would generally house a 12.1 inch system. The graphics of Z330 console is being handled by the integrated GPU on Intel’s Sandy Bridge processors and its connectivity features include an 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 3.0, USB 3.0 and WI-Di wireless display making it a class apart from other Ultrabooks.

The XNote Z330 Ultrabook has been a great discovery for LG and they truly make our “Life’s Good”. It is very stylish looking carrying almost all the features it requires and in full HD. The people all over the world has appreciated what LG has created and giving them a good response. So if you don’t have XNote Z330 Ultrabook, then go and get one.

After the huge success of Xbox, Microsoft has launched a second video game console naming it the Xbox 360. The Xbox 360 gives a close competition to Sony?s PlayStation 3 and Nintendo?s Wii, as a part of the 7th generation of video game consoles. Till now more than 60 million Xbox 360 consoles has been sold worldwide.

The Xbox 360 was officially introduced on MTV on May 12, 2005 with detailed launch and game information divulged later that month at the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3). Soon after the console was unveiled in the market it was sold out worldwide except for Japan.

Several major features of the Xbox 360 are its integrated Xbox Live service that allows the gamers to compete online. They can also download arcade games, game demos, trailers, TV shows, music and many more. It also offers access to third party media service such as Netflix or ESPN or Sky Go.

When Xbox 360 launched in the market it was available in 2 configurations: the ?Xbox 360? package amounted at US$399 and another one was the ?Xbox 360 Core? amounted US$299. The original version included a cut-down version of the Media Remote as a promotion. However the Elite package was launched later at a cost of US$479. The ?Xbox 360 Core? was later replaced by the ?Xbox 360 Arcade? on October 2007.

On August 1, 2008 a 60 GB version of the Xbox 360 Pro was released. In June 2010 Microsoft announced a new, recreated model and also the discontinuation of the Elite and Arcade model. Rumors suggested that a complete redesign of the Xbox 360 hardware was being produced after a new motherboard design was launched on 17th March 2010. However the advertisements hit the world after 13th June by showing a slimmer Xbox 360 design, which was supposed to have 250 GB hard drive and integrated Wi-Fi functionality.

The official color of the white model is Arctic Chill and it featured a port on the top when it is vertical and a custom housed hard drive unit can be attached in various sizes ranging from 20 to 150 GB. Inside the Xbox 360 the triple core IBM design has been used as its CPU naming it Xenon. It can operate up to 6 threads at one time as each core is capable of simultaneously processing 2 threads at a time.

The Graphics department is being handled by the ATI Xenon which has 10 MB of eDRAM and has a memory of 512 MB. The Xbox 360 is available both in wired and wireless form, faceplates for customization, headsets for chatting and many more. The Xbox 360 was launched with 14 games in North America and 13 in Europe.

The console?s best selling game was ?Call of Duty 2? back in 2005 which sold over million copies. The other five games which had a successful run was ?Ghost Recon Advanced War Fighter?, ?The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion?, ?Dead or Alive 4?, ?Saints Row? and ?Gears of War?. Among all these games ?Gears of War was most successful as it sold over 3 million copies.

So if you still don?t have a Xbox 360 go to your nearest store and buy it. You really cannot miss this.

Finally ending the long wait, the Google Voice has rolled out in its full glamour from the Google factory. It is the like the apple of the Apple’s eye. One of the most downloaded versions in the Apple’s App Store, this Google Voice application is a cult in its own right.

The Google Voice runs typically on the iPhone and the official version is very easy to find, download and install. The software’s intricacies might appear alluring to some while they might be repulsive to others. The iOS based applications allow users to drag the list of messages in the inbox, which immediately refreshes the application, bringing any new message up front and center.

Threading is implemented to establish communication between the user and his / her contacts. Threading makes conversation simple and hassle free. The official full web version of Google Voice has this feature too. Clicking on the contact’s name brings up a list of other options like calling them or removing them from the Quick Dial List; other than sensing simple text messages.

The main screen alerts the users about what is happening around them, giving them a quick access and immediate updates of the inbox and voicemails. Starred messages can also be accessed. One can even read the full history and look back at what someone said, and even details of call information. Accessing voice mails may give the users access to the actual transcript that is the user can even listen to it from the iPhone.

Every person is assigned with a unique Caller ID as the Google Voice number. The dialer on the iPhone lets users make and receive calls. A Settings menu lets one change some of the settings of the iPhone device that is utilizing Google Voice.

It is simple to add somebody to one’s Quick Dial list. One can select contacts from one’s contact list. All that is required is to click on their names and select the right option after selecting the phone number one wants to add. The added numbers will appear on the Quick Dial list immediately.

Deleting a contact from the list is very easy too. The red delete marks will appear as soon as the Edit is selected from the top left. Clicking the red marks, followed by the Delete option, deletes the contact from the list.

The beautiful bond that the official application of the Google Voice shares with the iPhone is just amazing and many state that this application should have been available on the App Store long back. Making calls and background notifications make the application more alluring; the only redundant fact being that the notifications show up in the same manner as text messages. If the device is set to receive text notifications automatically, the background notifications of Google Voice are then not needed. One can also choose to skip text notations or turn off the background notifications as one can also reply to the Google Text Messages using the Native Messaging Application.

The process to set up the official version of the Google Voice Application is very easy especially if one had been already using the Google Voice. One just needs to set up the phone number and the Google Voice account, and the application is ready at one’s fingertips.

The official version is worth the wait, though it may just seem much like the earlier version. One is sure to enjoy the service scale and efficiency that comes with the pack.

Microsoft has launched a new Xbox LIVE app for iOS devices including the iPhone and iPad. The app, called My Xbox LIVE, allows users to edit their Xbox profile as well as their friends list, and compare achievements with other users.

Xbox LIVE has until now only been available on Windows Phones, and Microsoft has reserved it as one of the unique selling points of their mobile operating system. But while Xbox consoles sell by the millions, Windows Phone has struggled to achieve more than a 5% share of the smartphone market.

It seems that when it comes to smartphones, many Xbox owners would rather have an iPhone or Android device. The new iPhone 4S comes with a dual core GPU and Game Center, making it a fairly decent handheld games console in its own right, and likewise Android has a whole host of features and apps to satisfy gamers.

This app for iOS does not offer the same functionality as the Xbox LIVE feature of Windows Phone, and seems to be designed more to tempt iPhone owners over to Microsoft’s mobile OS. Microsoft have even designed the app to look and feel like the Windows Phone interface, perhaps to get iPhone users more familiar with the way that it works.

Recently, Microsoft launched an online simulation of Windows Phone that could be accessed from Android phones and iPhones, so that people could test the OS out on their own devices. My Xbox LIVE appears to be another attempt by Microsoft to raise the profile of Windows Phone amongst smartphone users who have already become stuck in their ways with owning an iPhone.

It is not surprising that Windows Phone does not enjoy the same levels of market share as Android and iPhone, as it was only launched towards the end of 2010. Because of this, many people are not familiar with the operating system or what it has to offer. With only a handful of Windows Phones currently available Microsoft is struggling to attract peoples’ attention.

This should all change in 2012, with the deal between Microsoft and Nokia promising a great deal more Windows Phones in the next 12 months and beyond. The first such device, the Lumia 800, has received a lot of critical acclaim and has been the best phone launch in Nokia’s history.

Like all other Windows Phones, the Nokia Lumia 800 comes with full Xbox LIVE support that not only lets you play games on your phone but also lets you interact with content stored on your Xbox console. This sort of functionality is not offered by the new iOS app, although My Xbox LIVE should offer some tantalizing bait for people whose iPhone contracts are nearing an end.

Toshiba, the leading brand to make ultra light and skinny laptops, unveiled the Protégé Z835 with its suite of ports and every one of them; the USB 3.0 and 2.0, HDMI and Gigabit Ethernet. The earlier introduced Protégé R500 was just 2.4 pounds measuring only 0.77 inches thick but managed to squeeze in an optical drive. The Protégé Z835 is an upgrade over the R500 and measures only 0.07 pounds more than its predecessor and it promises an outstanding 8 hour battery life.

Looks:
The Toshiba Z835 has put on a design that best suits the looks of a dated businessman of the late 1980s. Made of Magnesium alloy and having a honeycomb caging like any other Protégés, it feels fragile to touch, but the scratch and fingerprint resistant metal casing assures that one need not use kid gloves to handle it.

Keyboard and trackpad:
The keyboard is not perfect but one will get accustomed to using it continuously. It offers very little space between individual keys, therefore making the major keys like the Enter, Left and Right, Shift, Caps Lock amply sized and easy to operate. Keys like the Fn and Ctrl Buttons are indistinguishable from the lettered keys. The keys offer a comfortable, low – pitched sound while typing and is spill resistant. The backlights beneath the keys are not too bright and offer only a glow in the type of lighting.

The touchpad is 1.75 x 3.3 inches and offers a smooth, low friction surface, which makes is easy to drag the cursor across the screen. It is also brilliantly adapted to pull off pinch to zoom very efficiently. The two touch buttons are easy to press, are reliable and fairly quiet.

Display and Sound:
The Z835 has 1366 x 768 pixel display which is much less than the standard UX31 1600 x 900 panel. The pixel dimensions of the Z835 are enough for comfortable viewing of the mails and web-pages. The display do not offer wide viewing angles and only a perfect front on display allows pleasant colors and crisp detail. An video quality of 720p is offered can only be used in Windows Media Player 12; and does not compensate for the amateur video quality of YouTube and Vimeo. The volume controls re situated on the “3” and “4” keys and the Z835 offers brilliant sound quality. But there is no onscreen volume indicator.

Performance:
With 1.4 GHz core i3-2367M processor, 4 GB of RAM, and a 128 GB SSD makes this Z835 work amazingly fast cutting down the boot time up to half. The Toshiba Z835’s solid state drive can deliver write performance of about 50 MB/s and reach speeds of about 250 MB/s reads and 200 MB/s writes.

Battery life:
The Toshiba offers a surprising 9 hour battery life. The Eco mode is the device’s battery-saving system and it dims the display, turns off the backlight, the screen and the hard drive sooner than it normally would.

Software:
Bloatware runs in the Z835’s system but an intriguing fact is that the company wrote most of its software itself. The programs include: Disc Creator, DVD Player, Face Recognition, Toshiba Assist, HDD Protection, Fingerprint Utility, HDD/SSD alert, Media Controller, Password Utility, PC health monitor, Recover Disc Creator, HW Setup Utility, Service Station, Security Assist, Value Added Package, Sleep Utility and the laptop’s webcam software.

All these only make the Toshiba suited to the needs of the present tech savvy, though its external looks are outdated.

Nvidia developed Tegra, is a system on a chip series for smart phones, mobile Internet devices, personal digital assistants and other mobile devices. Combining the Central Processing Unit (CPU), the Graphics Processing Unit (GPU), nothbridge, southbridge, ARM architecture processor and memory controller in one single pack, this Tegra device emphasizes on low power consumption and high performance for playing audio and video.

The Tegra 3 series is a class apart and is the heart of the next generation PC also known as Project Kal-El. This quad-core chipset has been developed to help the Android market, and is a modification over the Tegra 2 Dual core processor. There have been slight revelations as to the working of the Tegra 3 chip, about less battery consumption, more effective work load distribution, and more power. The Tegra five cores, and four as the name suggests and another about Variable Symmetric Multi-processor also called vSMP. There are four cores and a Core 1 Companion and that makes it five.

The Tegra 3 is definitely an intelligent processor, making sure that the battery life is better and the distribution of power is well maintained. The vSMP allows the utilization of only core during webpage browsing while all the processors might be used in case of a high powered game.

The Glowball, a game requiring advanced features, would not have been possible on a mobile platform had there not been a NVIDIA’s new chip with its brilliant architecture in the market and the power of the quad core chipset along with NVIDIA’s 12 GPU cores.

The Tegra 3 chipset is an asset for game developers amd gamers as it literally supports the next generation gaming. In this world of gaming, with 3D features, mind boggling graphics and speed, the Tegra 3 is the heart of the next generation gaming. NVIDIA just took mobile gaming to a new dimension. The gaming performance is enhanced and today running in the heart of the ASUS Eee Pad Transformer Prime. The frames per second is also advanced and this Tegra chipset only has managed to squeeze in more frames per second; a dashing 32 fps. The whole world of computing is about to be revolutionized by the NVIDIA’s Tegra project.

The second and third generation Tegra Projects is very different from each other and a brief comparison between the two will show that the Tegra 3 is an improvement over Tegra 2.

Tegra 2:
Has a dual core ARM CortexA9 CPU (lacking ARMs advanced SIMD extension, running in the market as NEON) an ultra-low power (ULP) GeForce GPU loaded with 4 Pixel shaders + 4 vertex shaders, a 32 KB/32 KB L1 cache per core, a shared 1 MB L2 cache, and a one channel memory controller with either LPDDR2 at 600 MHz or DDr2 at 667 MHz.

Tegra 3:
Functionally a four core processor, it also contains a fifth ‘companion’ core. All cores are Cortex A9 while the companion core uses a special low power silicon process. Limited to 500 MHz, this version uses les power at low clock rates, but more at higher rates. Also there exists a special logic allowing the quick exchange of the running state between the companion core and one normal core. During standby mode, or minimal CPU activity like playing music or video all the normal cores are powered down and the device concerned, runs only on the companion core.

A “Superman” or not, this Tegra is one processor that just simply is irresistible.

The Samsung galaxy phone is a cult in design and scores over its competitors in possessing a bigger and better display. Looking back to the days when mobile phones meant only the ability to just make a call and text, they have come a long way. Mobile numbers when dialed took up two lines. Also the advanced mobile phones that accessed the internet, made the web page viewing difficult.

People got smarter and decided to go for the smart phone, with a smarter screen. The Samsung Galaxy Note is one such smart phone that is generating heat already. The GT-N70000 Galaxy Note is the dream phone of all smart phone lovers. The thinness of the Galaxy S II, the lightning speed working, 5.3 inch HD Super AMOLED Display are the features that tumbles down just at the mere touch of the phone.

1280 x 800 Pixels that only some versions of laptops with very big screens provided now can just slip into the pocket. This phone replaced the note pad. Armed with the S pen Stylus, one can jot down quick notes, mark up screenshots and electronically sign documents. Disintegrating the parts of the phone one by one by one, we come across many features.

Hardware:
This Galaxy Note bridges the gap between smart phone and tablet. An Android phone with high resolution, this phone allows one to take notes, doodle between meetings and make phone calls. The Note is larger than the Galaxy S II, measuring 148.85 x 82.95 x 9.65 mm, and is definitely heavier 178 Gms.

Display:
Just 5.3-inch (just?) in size, this Note gives priority to detail with its 285ppi. It displays n amazingly smooth graphics and makes reading and other web pages more comfortable to see. The color display is not painful to the eye. The onscreen keyboard is large and guarantees easy typing. The S Pen, allows users to replace the letters or entire words. Character recognition of the Note is not totally perfect, but is good.

Loudspeakers:
The Galaxy Note is loud, giving one of the best audio qualities. A 3.5 mm headphone jack, the FM radio application is some of the audio features this NOTE provides. The phone calling session is not bad but one cannot also say it is perfect. Calls made using the earpiece of in loud speaker could not be understood by the person at the other end.

Camera:
The camera is an appreciable feature on the Galaxy Note and is rumored to use the same sensors and camera getup as its predecessors. White balance and exposure are carefully balanced and auto focus is maintained by this darling of a handset.

Pen and Software:
